I am a mom, wife, and forever the creative cook. I live in Idaho, near Boise, but not quite in.I recently went back to work which has left me little time to create in the kitchen. My husband has taken over the majority of playing mom. I work time and a half right now, so I do my best to spend some quality time in the kitchen exploring.
I love food. Even more, I love good food. To me good means eating mostly healthful food, but yet everything in moderation. I buy organic when I can because I think it’s better for me and tastes much better. I also have a garden in my backyard that I try desperately to keep my plants bigger than the weeds. I do well for most of the growing season:)
I love the social aspect of sharing a meal with people. I find that when I am upset, worried, sad, or otherwise extreme, I end up in the kitchen. That means if you piss me off, I will be cleaning. If you make me happy I will probably bake for you.
Home cooking is becoming a lost art and I hope to inspire a little change in someone who is not confident in the kitchen. Food is not meant to be poured out of a box-read the ingredients and you can see why I might feel that way. I like to eat food; not chemicals, additives, excessive salts and sugars, supplements, and other unpronounceable items. Real food is still doable in a short amount of time, and I think the end result is a happier, healthier family. The greatest gift my mother gave me is the confidence in the kitchen.
It’s not my forte, but I like to write, and will be sharing recipes I have created or just some favorites. I would love to hear comments or thoughts. Hopefully you will try at least one of my recipes, even if you aren’t usually excited about cooking. I think everyone should have one fantastic dish they do well, just to share with company.
