Winter Wine


I can tell it’s fall when I start craving spices and incredible smells.

I use a red of some kind, and adjust the mix of spices depending on the tones of the wine.

ok, that sounds like I might know something about wine- I don’t, officially, but some are spicier or softer or sweeter.

1 bottle red wine-sweeter is better, or you can add some sugar to taste

1/2 orange, sliced into rounds (when I leave the peel on I usually wash it well before slicing)

1 cinnamon stick

4 cloves

2 slices fresh peeled ginger

combine in a saucepan and simmer for about 20 min. Serve hot with a fresh 1/2 slice of orange
